About Me

Hello!  I’m Holly.

Minnesota born and raised. Currently living in Virginia and in pursuit of a history MA (my areas are Early America, trans-Appalachian borderlands, gender, print culture, and public history, if you’re interested).

What I write about here on the weirdly-named In Spec can be summed up thus:

  1. Books
  2. History
  3. Scrapes I Get Into
  4. Bad Poetry

Other things I love include puns, libraries, road trips, large dogs, quoting the movie What We Do in the Shadows, going on long walks, and lamenting the fact that I’m far too clumsy to read on said long walks.

Nice to meet you!

  1. Hi Holly,

As a fellow Morris Alumni, I must say that I found your involvement in school very refreshing. I stumbled upon your blog, and it reminded me of my own love for this medium of self expression. Maybe by reading yours I will be inspired to write my own.

The one you wrote about what breathes life into us…now that’s an intriguing question that I’m always trying to ponder. Still can’t say that I found the answer, but you reminded me to some degree of my liveliness while in Morris. Thank you!

    • Hi Melissa,

Sorry for my late response-clearly, I’m not used to having people actually comment on my blog! Thank you for your kind words! I think we all need a reminder of what gives us life every now and then. Have you started your own blog yet? If you decide to, I hope you’ll share the link. I’d love to read it!

      -Holly
