We millennials forage for ham in the ice-lined tubs at Target,
Pausing for jelly beans and Cadbury eggs,
Hardly ashamed that strategic product placement works on us.
It is baseball opener, and on the way home, we ride too far
Because the Metro is packed with jerseys, and we’re looking at them
High from the game (a loss)
An old man and a young men settle into the corner with us
old men in red cap, young man in white jersey.
Who’d you cheer for, I ask, smiling.
Today we enjoyed a baseball game, young lady! The old man says.
I hope your Easter will be good. The old man says, and they carefully exit the train
And we millennials hide jelly beans in our cheeks.
